At the beginning of the 1940s, a group of progressive men create a new industry in Rafaela City. An Italian immigrant, Don Francisco Marengo, succeeded in drawing the attention of a group of industrialists with a fresh idea.

A piece of land of 3000 m2 was bought on Lisandro de la Torre  Street, between Roca Boulevard and Moreno Street, where a building, currently extended, was  constructed as a manufacturing unit, and which  is still being used these days.

Its original activity was the production of biscuits.

In time, it embarked on the elaboration of sweets.

By the end of the 1960s, it solely manufactured sweets, leaving aside the original activity. This way, a new stage and challenge began, which required some investments so that the organization was made into the new activity.

Half way through 1980, Marengo grew and investments increased, creating new sections, for example, a range of sugar coated candies. The working conditions were modified, adapting the plant to the modern industry.

A larger area was devoted to productive sectors, extending the lines of greater production. The activity was on the increase and new distribution areas opened.

By the end of 1990s, an 11-hectare estate was purchased in an industrial area to the east of Route 34, at the heat of Rafaela’s Industrial Park. A project for a new Plant was launched, with new criteria consistent with the expansion of the company and the new businesses. This project was carried out in stages, using new criteria and the latest technology and engineering.

In the first stage, the administration, deposit and shipping offices were constructed, which are still running there. In the second stage, which is currently being executed, the construction of the central nave began, including production, supplies deposits and the back up naves. 

All the facilities and the constructed sectors conform to the most stringent Quality, Safety, Environmental and Occupational Health regulations. The flexibility and versatility of the new plant will be key features in the future of the company.

Today, MARENGO SA is a company which produces sweets and has a wide range of products (more than 80 types of sweets), currently launching lines of export products: filled hard candies, soft sweets, bubble gum, lollipops, cereal bars and chocolate wafers.

A large assortment, a wide selection of flavours and packaging allow us to have a widespread coverage and easy access to the different commercialization channels (importers, wholesalers, distributors, supermarkets, confectionary shops, etc.). We are innovating flavors and packaging and we are launching new products such as the chocolate wafers. A clear and compact commercialization system focuses on the client, including strategic alliances, like Partnership, with certain areas, for example, Buenos Aires and Mendoza.
